While the Covid inquiry scrutinises the Government’s handling of the pandemic, the real estate sector is conducting its own examination into why the workforce is hesitant to return to their pre-pandemic workplace. The most recent Worker Survey by Remit Consulting has been unveiled, revealing some unsurprising findings.

Foremost among people’s concerns about resuming full-time office attendance are commuting expenses, the time taken to reach the office, and apprehensions regarding strikes and disruptions.

In contrast, when employees do make visits to the office, it is primarily for face-to-face meetings and seeking a change of environment.

On the whole, there remains a lack of conviction among workers about the viability of a five-day-a-week return to the office and a desire for a more balanced work-life dynamic.
